78 GMC VAN 350....IM at my wits end,I have been trying to get this van to start but it it floods as soon as the engine turns over a couple of times, i have done a complete tune-up and more, I even replaced the carburetor,rebuilt the dizzy and drain the fuel tank....also the fuel pump was replaced.Can anybody give me a clue to why it floods so fast, the only thing i havent replaced yet is the timing chain.

Mazak, the old carb done the same thing but anyhow i replaced it with one from autozone part#C9394 since the weather has warmed up im going to remove the timing cover and check if there is any give in the T-chain....would lifters cause such flooding?

Lifters would not cause flooding.

When you say "flooding", what are the symptoms?
Please be more specific.
Are the plugs soaked in gas?

Yes very wet, I clean them up dry out the cylinders it cranks for about 10 seconds and they are soaked again

is this engine stock ? i mean no mods to heads or cam ? just bone stock 350 soaking the cylinders and the plugs?

well I got the timing cover off and the cam gear has about 3 teeth missing and cracks all around it guess thats the problem but not still sure cause when I set it at TDC it lined up right , any how replacing timing gears and chain and hope that will take care of it, soon as I do I will let you all know.
